Translated captions on YouTube Live.

Subtitled adds live translated captions to YouTube Live through OBS or Streamlabs, in any of 16 languages, about 1.4 seconds behind the speaker. They are part of the picture, so the replay keeps them. After the stream, drop the recording into Subtitled's video tool for an .srt in another language to add as a subtitle track. Live captions cost $1.00 per hour of talk, subtitles $0.50 per hour of video.

Live for the room, tracks for the replay

Live captions serve the people watching now in one language. For the replay, each extra language is an .srt you upload in YouTube Studio, which viewers pick from the settings menu.

Shorts from the stream

Cut a moment from the replay, drop it into Subtitled, choose 9:16, and download a vertical Short with the subtitles burned in.

How it works

  1. 1Sign in at subtitled.live in Chrome or Edge.
  2. 2Drag the caption sources into the OBS scene you stream to YouTube.
  3. 3Press Start when you go live.
  4. 4Afterwards, make an .srt from the recording for each extra language.

Questions

Can I add translated captions to a YouTube live stream?

Yes. Subtitled draws them into your stream through OBS or Streamlabs, so every viewer sees them with nothing to switch on.

Will the captions stay in the YouTube replay?

Yes. They are part of the video, so the replay shows them as they appeared live.

How do I add more subtitle languages after the stream?

Drop the recording into subtitled.live/video, pick a language, download the .srt, and upload it in YouTube Studio under Subtitles. Repeat for each language.

Does Subtitled work with StreamYard for YouTube?

Yes. In StreamYard, open the caption window from Subtitled and share it as a screen.
